DENVER – This week, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael S. Regan announced the appointment of 34 new members to the Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC), including The Honorable Nick Gradisar, mayor of Pueblo, Colorado, and The Honorable Mark Fox, chairman of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara (MHA) Nation in North Dakota. The 39-member LGAC will include 20 women, 16 people of color, and representation from 30 different states, Tribal nations, and U.S. territories, representing a diverse cross-section of cities, counties, towns, and communities across the United States. The Administrator also appointed 16 new members to the LGAC’s Small Communities Advisory Subcommittee (SCAS), including North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality Director Dave Glatt.
“I’m honored to welcome this diverse, highly qualified group of local leaders who will bring valuable insight and experience to the Agency,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “EPA is counting on their input and collaboration to help achieve our mission to protect public health and the environment in every zip code. From tackling climate change to advancing environmental justice, we need local partners at the table to address our most pressing environmental challenges.”
“I am honored to have been selected to serve on this nationwide committee,” said Mayor Nick Gradisar of the City of Pueblo, Colorado. “I represent the City of Pueblo, and it is clear to me that Pueblo’s interactions with the EPA will serve me well on this committee. Pueblo’s goals and challenges align with those of most cities throughout the nation and I know our community involvement with the EPA will be useful to my work.”
“It is a pleasure and an honor to serve on the EPA LGAC Board,” said Chairman Fox of the MHA Nation in North Dakota. “I look forward to the continuance of strengthening environmental protection throughout our local governments through all of the things the EPA supports.”
