Congressional Record publishes “TEXT OF AMENDMENTS” on April 2, 2008

Volume 154, No. 51 covering the 2nd Session of the 110th Congress (2007 - 2008) was published by the Congressional Record.

TEXT OF AMENDMENTS

SA 4384. Mr. SANDERS submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill H.R. 3221, moving the United States toward greater energy independence and security, developing innovative new technologies, reducing carbon emissions, creating green jobs, protecting consumers, increasing clean renewable energy production, and modernizing our energy infrastructure, and to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide tax incentives for the production of renewable energy and energy conservation; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:

At the appropriate place, insert the following:

SEC. ___. INCREASE IN SPECIALLY ADAPTED HOUSING BENEFITS FOR

DISABLED VETERANS.

Section 2102 of title 38, United States Code, is amended--

(1) in subsection (b)(2), by striking ``$10,000'' and inserting ``$12,000''; and

(2) in subsection (d)--

(A) in paragraph (1), by striking ``$50,000'' and inserting

``$60,000''; and

(B) in paragraph (2), by striking ``$10,000'' and inserting

``$12,000''.

Mr. WICKER (for himself and Mr. Cochran) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill H.R. 3221, moving the United States toward greater energy independence and security, developing innovative new technologies, reducing carbon emissions, creating green jobs, protecting consumers, increasing clean renewable energy production, and modernizing our energy infrastructure, and to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide tax incentives for the production of renewable energy and energy conservation; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:

At the appropriate place, insert the following:

SEC. __. STREAMLINING ENVIRONMENTAL APPROVALS FOR CERTAIN

EMERGENCY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT.

Not later than 60 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency shall submit to Congress a joint report on ways to streamline the environmental approval process for community development block grant housing development in areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma of 2005.

TITLE _--GO ZONE PROPERTY

SEC. _01. WAIVER OF DEADLINE ON CONSTRUCTION OF GO ZONE

PROPERTY ELIGIBLE FOR BONUS DEPRECIATION.

(a) In General.--Subparagraph (B) of section 1400N(d)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended to read as follows:

``(B) without regard to `and before January 1, 2005' in clause (i) thereof,''.

(b) Effective Date.--The amendment made by this section shall apply to property placed in service after December 31, 2007.
