SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL ACT AMENDMENTS
Committee on Commerce: Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Hazardous Materials held a hearing on H.R. 3391, to amend the Solid Waste Disposal Act to require at least 85 percent of funds appropriated to the Environmental Protection Agency from the Leaking Underground Storage Tank Trust Fund to be distributed to States for cooperative agreements for undertaking corrective action and for enforcement of subtitle I of such Act. Testimony was heard from Jim Matthews, Deputy Assistant Administrator, Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response, EPA; and public witnesses.

Committee on Government Reform and Oversight: Subcommittee on Human Resources and Intergovernmental Relations held a hearing on Consumer Health Informatics. HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM
Conferees met to resolve the differences between the Senate- and House-
passed versions of H.R. 3103, to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to improve portability and continuity of health insurance coverage in the group and individuals markets, to combat waste, fraud, and abuse in health insurance and health care delivery, to promote the use of medical savings accounts, to improve access to long-term care services and coverage, and to simplify the administration of health insurance, but did not complete action thereon, and recessed subject to call.
SAFE DRINKING WATER ACT
Conferees met to resolve the differences between the Senate- and House-
passed versions of S. 1316, to authorize funds for programs of the Safe Drinking Water Act, but did not complete action thereon, and recessed subject to call.
