Bay Planning Coalition issued the following announcement on Aug. 2.
Officials at Oakland International Airport (OAK) today released June traffic reports, which reveal that total passenger activity at the airport increased 2.9% – from 1,218,265 in June 2017 to 1,253,329 in June this year. The fiscal year concluded in June for the Airport with 13,356,803 passengers, up 6.1% from 12,593,371 in FY2017.
For the current calendar year, OAK is 4.6% ahead of last year’s pace. Looking back at the previous two years, June 2018 is 12.6% above June 2016.
Port of Oakland Director of Aviation, Bryant L. Francis notes, “We are pleased to see the ever-expanding roster of destinations continue to foster increased passenger traffic at OAK. This growth represents the popularity of our airport and air service, as greater numbers of travelers consistently choose to fly the East Bay way.”
International traffic volume increased from 81,787 in June 2017 to 103,159 this June, a 47% increase.
