Competitive Enterprise Institute suggests policy reforms for Trump administration

The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) recently released its policy reform agenda for President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming term, with a focus on strengthening the economy by removing barriers to economic freedom.

The nonprofit public interest institute posted a series of memos on its website, one on each of its key policy focuses.

CEI’ said its primary concern is free-market reforms, and the organization has isolated five areas where it feels those reforms are most necessary, including those aimed at: promoting country’s labor force, reducing the country’s regulations, improving financial opportunities in the country, supporting technology and innovation and championing affordable energy. Each memo includes recommendations and guidelines that the Trump administration can follow to lead federal agencies when it takes over.

“Too much power in the executive branch is the path to tyranny, and too little oversight has brought regulatory burdens on many Americans,” CEI President Kent Lassman said. “The time is ripe for reining in federal agencies to encourage the economic freedom that leads to wealth generation that benefits all Americans.”

Measures outlined in the memos include replacing agency heads and overturning burdensome regulations. CEI maintains that these efforts will promote innovation, lead to job creation and provide financial freedom in the country.
