Ohio's Eastgate Regional Council of Governments to promote surface water protection at Yellow Creek watershed

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) is supporting protection efforts for the Yellow Creek watershed with a $5,000 Ohio Environmental Education Fund (OEEF) grant for the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments.

The OEEF allows organizations ranging from schools and universities to environmental, trade and governmental groups to undertake projects promoting environmental knowledge in communities throughout the state. The Ohio EPA, which manages the fund, recently announced seven grants, totaling $27,030, including the $5,000 grant for the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments.

The council will used the funding to post signage and maps through the watershed that will educate the public on what they can do to protect the quality of the surface water. The project will target Poland Village, Poland Township and Mill Creek MetroParks.

The Ohio EPA is currently accepting notices of intent to apply and applications for the next round of OEEF grants.
