Ohio EPA funding to support sampling in Blanchard River watershed

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) recently awarded Ohio Northern an $800 grant that will go toward conducting snapshot sampling of the Blanchard River Watershed in northwest Ohio  and informing local communities of the results.

The funding is part of $27,030 recently awarded to seven organizations throughout the state through the Ohio EPA’s Ohio Environmental Education Fund (OEEF).

The Blanchard River project will be managed by the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership, which will take water samples from locations throughout the watershed. Using the results, the organization will generate a grade card brochure that will allow nearby communities to understand the current condition of the watershed.

Grants from the OEEF are available to a wide range of organizations, including environmental groups, schools, colleges and universities, professional and trade organizations and state and local governmental groups. The Ohio EPA is currently accepting applications for the next round of OEEF grants.
