EPA and LeMoyne-Owen College sign MOU to encourage environmental studies

Representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tennessee recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will see them work together over the next three years to encourage environmental fields of study.

EPA Region 4 Air, Pesticides & Toxics Management Division Deputy Director Carol L. Kemper and LeMoyne-Owen President Dr. Andrea Lewis Miller took part in the signing ceremony, which took place on the LeMoyne-Owen campus, at the Dorothy Harris Lounge in the Alma C. Hanson Student Center.

The EPA and LeMoyne-Owen will cooperate over the next three years to further research, teaching, outreach, career development and stewardship related to environmental and mathematical sciences. LeMoyne-Owen will parcipate in the EPA’s Environmental Science Partnership Program, and the EPA will work to support the environmental policy and science curricula at the college, creating opportunities for students who wish to pursue environmental careers. The institutions hope that this partnership will encourage more students to study environmental fields and that it will help the EPA develop a diverse workforce in the future.
