Louisiana DEQ provides multiple platforms for air quality awareness

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) recently updated state residents on the various ways they can stay up to date on their local air quality, including email alerts for poor air quality, current air quality monitor readings and alerts for predicted poor air quality.

Visiting the DEQ website’s "My Air Quality" page, users can sign up to receive email alerts when the air quality standards for ozone, SO2 or PM2.5 are exceeded. The DEQ’s subscription system will automatically send an email when they department’s monitors indicate poor air quality. State residents can also get up to date information on their local air quality monitors’ readings from the "My Air Quality" page, along with other information. Site users will see both the monitors’ readings and their locations.

Finally, Louisiana residents can take advantage of EnviroFlash, an electronic information system run in partnership with the DEQ and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EnviroFlash allows users to customize the instant air quality information they receive, via email, to their specific needs, giving them a more accurate picture of how the current air quality might impact them and their families. Those interested in EnviroFlash can register on the DEQ’s website.
