Georgia Environmental Protection Division schedules trainings on electronic permit application and reporting systems
To ease the application process for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program and the permits required under the Clean Air Act, the EPD has created the Georgia EPD Online System (GEOS). In addition to NPDES Municipal Wastewater Discharge Permits and Title V Air Quality Permits, Georgia businesses and organizations can currently use GEOS to apply for Scrap Tire Waste Reduction, Scrap Tire Compliance, Brownfields, Lead Based Pain and Asbestos and Trust Fund and Fee Management applications. The EPD plans to expand GEOS over time, allowing for more permit applications to be submitted in the future.
The trainings will also educate attendees on the use of NetDMR, an EPA initiative to make compliance with NPDES permits easier on their holders. The system allows users to submit their Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) data online, which the EPA will require all permit holders to do starting on Dec. 21.
The Athens trainings on these systems will take place on April 6 and 7, with both trainings covering GEOS and NetDMR usage.
