The EPA acknowledged the work of the Brewer facility and the other winners at the annual New England Water Environmental Association Conference in Boston.
“The professionals operating these wastewater treatment plants, as well as the municipalities and the state environmental agencies that support them, are essential to keeping our environment healthy by protecting water quality,” EPA Regional Administrator for New England Curt Spalding said. “I am proud to give them the credit they deserve.”
The EPA Regional Wastewater Awards Program was created to highlight the work of wastewater professionals who promote human and environmental health through managing and operating wastewater treatment facilities. The Brewer Water Pollution Control Facility was nominated by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, which recognized the exceptional efforts of facility Superintendent Ken Locke and his staff.
