Louisiana environmental organizations plan workshop on environmental law enforcement

A coalition of federal and state environmental agencies and organizations will host an Environmental Law Enforcement Training Workshop on March 23 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, focusing on environmental crimes and environmental laws.

The workshop is targeted at enforcement personnel such as law enforcement officials, justices of the peace, constables, state and city prosecutors and code enforcement officers, as well as city and state officials, environmental managers public works directors and sanitarians. It is also open to the public, and admission is free.

Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Secretary Dr. Chuck Carr Brown will deliver opening remarks, and the workshop will feature federal, state and local law enforcement speakers. Information covered will include the laws surrounding illegal dumping and burning, littering and water and air pollution, as well as the related enforcement actions.

The workshop will take place at the DEQ Galvez Building in Baton Rouge, and those interested in attending should RSVP. It is hosted by Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the Environmental Protection Agency Criminal Investigation Division, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Divisions and the DEQ’s Criminal Investigation Division.
