U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), ranking member of the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, applauded the EPW’s recent advancement of the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act of 2015, for which she is a co-sponsor.

“I am pleased that the EPW Committee joined together to pass this bipartisan bill,” Boxer said. “It is critical we continue to protect Lake Tahoe, which is one of the most treasured places in my home state of California and is essential for tourism in both California and Nevada. I will continue to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle as we move forward with this legislation on the Senate floor.”

The bill, S. 1724, was introduced by Boxer and U.S. Sens. Dean Heller (R-NV), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Harry Reid (D-NV) with the intention of protecting the lake from pollution, such as storm water runoff, and reducing the risk of wildfires and threats to native species.
