“These commonsense bills will protect American businesses from overly burdensome Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and I’m looking forward to examining these issues in further detail next week,” U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), who chairs the Energy and Power Subcommittee, said.
The hearing, titled “H.R. 3797, the Satisfying Energy Needs and Saving the Environment (SENSE) Act and H.R.__, the Blocking Regulatory Interference from Closing Kilns (BRICK) Act,” will allow committee members to discuss the bills.
H.R. 3797 seeks to protect the coal refuse industry, which is a source of affordable energy and site remediation for polluted coal producing areas, from compliance costs included in several federal regulations.
H.R.__, or the BRICK Act, would prevent implementation of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Brick MACT regulation until judicial reviews of the rule are completed.
The hearing will take place in the Rayburn House Office Building and begin at 10:15 a.m.
