CALSTART opens San Joaquin Valley Clean Transportation Center

CALSTART opened the San Joaquin Valley Clean Transportation Center this week, a facility partially funded by the California Energy Commission and designed to promote public usage of clean vehicles and fuels.

"The San Joaquin Valley Clean Transportation Center is a great new regional resource that will play an important role in helping to improve air quality and reduce emissions from vehicles,” San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District Executive Director and Air Pollution Control Officer Seyed Sadredin said. “The center has strong connections and relations with a national network of manufacturers, suppliers, and fleets that we will be able to utilize to improve our transportation system."

The Clean Transportation Center will be a tool for those looking to use zero-emissions vehicles and clean trucks, among other innovations, to lessen their carbon footprint. It will be available to organizations such as vehicle fleet owners, local governments and residents.

"The San Joaquin Valley Clean Transportation Center is part of a larger strategy to address regional clean-air needs across the state," California Energy Commissioner Janea A. Scott said. "The Energy Commission is pleased to provide a $1.2 million grant to fund this center, which will help local residents, governments and businesses collaborate on advanced transportation solutions and accelerate their progress toward meeting the Valley's clean-air goals."

A national nonprofit, CALSTART aims to expand of the clean transportation technology industry.
