EPA seeking nominations for 2016 Environmental Merit Awards in New England
Awards are categorized by entity, including individuals, businesses and trade organizations, local, state and federal governmental groups, and environmental and community organizations. Nominees in these categories will be judged by an EPA panel, which will be looking for factors such as long-term impact, potential for addressing environmental problems, widely shared benefits, external collaboration and use of innovative concepts.
The EPA is also accepting nominations for the Children’s Environmental Health Award and the Ira Leighton “In Service to States” Environmental Merit Award. The Children’s Environmental Health Award is open to both individuals and groups, and will be decided based on the nominees’ innovation and achievement of tangible results in the field of making children safer in schools, homes and childcare facilities. The In Service to States Award recognizes achievements in state and federal partnerships on environmental challenges, and is open to individuals and organizations.
Those interested in making nominations can do so online, before Feb. 12.
