Ohio EPA proposes rule revisions on harmful algal bloom data and laboratory certification

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s (Ohio EPA) Division of Drinking and Ground Waters (DDAGW) is proposing new rules on monitoring and reporting harmful algal blooms and revisions to rules on laboratory certification.

The agency’s proposed rules and revisions come after reviewing comments made during a period that ended on Oct. 23 of last year. The draft regulations impact the Ohio Administrative Code, specifically Chapter 3745-90 and Chapter 3745-89.

Interested parties can find more information on the new and revised regulations on the DDAGW’s webpage, including a public notice, a summary of the division’s response to comments, a summary of the proposed revisions, and a Business Impact Analysis. The Ohio EPA is not accepting public comments at the moment, as it is yet to formally propose the revisions. The agency plans to do so this month.
