Abbott appoints three to Sabine River Authority board of directors

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently made three appointments to the Sabine River Authority board of directors, which regulates the river’s waters and those of its tributaries to manage conservation, control preservation and utilization, among other initiatives.

Kimberly Fish, a graduate of South Carolina’s Bob Jones University, is a freelance writer and community development consultant. Fish also serves on the board of Longview 2020, the Community Connections Center and the Longview Arboretum, and is on LeTourneau University President’s Advisory Committee and a part of the LeTourneau University Board of Trustees.

Ret. Col. Jeanette Sterner is a former U.S. Army and Texas Army National Guard member, having received master’s degrees from Trinity University and the Army War College, where she studied strategic planning for global situations. Sterner is a member of various veterans groups, including Military Officers Association of America, and she serves in leadership positions with the Greater Hawkins Veterans Memorial Association, the Holly Lake Ranch Veterans Association and the Women’s Auxiliary to Greater Hawkins Memorial Association.

Cary M. Abney, who was reappointed to the Sabine River Authority, studied business administration at Southern Methodist University. A certified public accountant, Abney is president of Abney & Co. and serves on the Harrison County EMS District #2 and the Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District USDA board.

Fish, Sterner and Abney will serve on the board until July 6, 2021.
