Texas Gov. Greg Abbot recently made two appointments to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) this week, reappointing Beaumont’s Kathleen Jackson and appointing Dallas’ Peter Lake.

The TWDB supports water development throughout the state through leadership, planning, and financial and technical assistance. Jackson’s reappointment will see her serve on the board until Feb. 1, 2017, while Lake will serve a term ending on Feb. 1, 2021.

Jackson is a professional engineer, having studied chemical engineering at North Carolina State University. She has previously served as chairman of the Southeast Texas section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, an organization of which she is still a member. She has also held leadership positions with the Lamar Institute of Technology Foundation, the American Cancer Society of North Jefferson County and the Junior Achievement of the Golden Triangle.

In addition to her current work on the TWDB board, she has worked with the Texas Water Conservation Association, the Texas Farm Bureau, and the Sabine and Neches Rivers Bay and Estuary Environmental Flows Assessment Program Stakeholders Committee.

Lake studied public policy at the University of Chicago and earned a Master of Business Administration at Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He is currently serving as Lake Ronel Oil Co.’s head of business development, and has previously held leadership positions at Gambit Trading and VantageCap Partners.

He was the co-president of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business’ Texas Club during his time there and is a member of the Chicago School of Law’s Edmund Burke Society.
