EPA accepting applications for 2016 Safer Choice Partner of the Year Awards

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is now accepting applications for the Safer Choice Partner of the Year Awards, which honor organizations that promote chemical safety through the Safer Choice Program.

The EPA bestows products with Safer Choice labels only after they have proven qualification under the human and environmental health criteria set by the agency. These products offer consumers safe, environmentally friendly alternatives.

“Safer Choice partners and award winners have shown that safer products are good for the health of our families, the environment, and business,” EPA assistant administrator Jim Jones said. “We look forward to recognizing the next group of award winners who have innovated and promoted the use of Safer Choice products.”

The 500 formulator-manufacturers making over 2,000 products under the Safer Choice Program, as well as organizations supporting it, are encouraged to apply for the Partner of the Year Awards, the winners of which will be announced in spring 2016. The EPA will choose at lease one winner in five categories: Product and Chemical Manufacturers, Purchasers and Distributors, Retailers, Supporters and Innovators.

Applications must be submitted by Jan. 29, 2016.
