Georgia EPD schedules stakeholder meeting on Clean Energy Incentive Program

The Air Protection Branch of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) has scheduled a meeting on January 7 for stakeholders to discuss the Clean Power Plan’s Clean Energy Incentive Program (CEIP).

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is using the CEIP to incentivize early adoption of some renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency methods designed to help low-income communities. States wishing to take part in CEIP must declare interest by September of next year, and the EPD’s stakeholder meeting is one step toward determining if Georgia will participate.

The meeting will allow stakeholders to comment on the program. It will begin with a review of the CEIP as it currently stands, after which the EPD will host two panel discussions: one on projects that promote renewable energies like wind and solar power and one on programs that would increase energy efficiency for low-income areas.

The meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Atlanta, at the Atlanta Tradeport Training Center. Those interested in attending must register online, as attendance is capped at 80 stakeholders.
