U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) thanked the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) after an recent announcement that the organization will invest a further $10 million in economic development in Louisiana’s Delta region.

“I am a strong believer in the effectiveness of workforce training and developing the skills of our youth in order to fulfill Louisiana’s growing workforce demands, and our Delta communities will benefit greatly in the short-and long-term,” Vitter said. “Thanks again to the Delta Regional Authority and its partners for their important contribution to the future success of Louisiana.”

The funding will go toward 13 new investments in workforce training and infrastructure improvements. It is expected to create and retain nearly 1,200 jobs and train 117 workers, as well as provide water and sewer services to 3,500 families.

“The DRA is excited to announce another year of investing into the people, small businesses, and infrastructure that make Louisiana a great place to create jobs, grow business and raise a family,” DRA Federal Co-Chairman Chris Masingill said. “These investments strategically leverage funding for projects that will help to address the infrastructure, training and public service needs of our Delta communities while driving economic development and growing small businesses and entrepreneurs.”
