Maine DEP schedules public meeting on Hampden municipal solid waste facility

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will discuss and accept comments on two applications related to a proposed municipal solid waste facility for Hampden, Maine, on November 19 at the Hampden Town Office Community Room.

The applications were jointly filed with Fiberight, LLC, which will own and operate the facility’s infrastructure, and the Municipal Review Committee, Inc., (MRC), which will own the 90-acre site where the facility will be located. The site is located about one mile northeast of Coldbrook Road, near 1-95. MRC will build a 4,620-foot access road and utilities, to be located across from the intersection of Coldbrook Road and Bryer Lane.

Prior to the DEP meeting, which will give interested parties the chance to learn about and comment on the applications, all related materials will be available on the department’s website and at Hampden’s municipal office.
