Survey: 80 percent support biofuel use
“This is just more evidence that the EPA should strengthen biodiesel volumes in the final RFS proposal,” NBB Vice President of Federal Affairs Anne Steckel said. “There is substantial public support and mounting data behind strong renewable fuel volumes that allow for additional growth in the program.”
According to the survey, 80 percent of those queried are supportive of biodiesel, with only 10 percent opposing it. Almost 90 percent of respondents would said they would use biofuel if given the option and nearly 70 percent said they would pay more for biodiesel products and services. These figures have grown from previous years, even with decreasing oil and gas prices.
“We are hopeful the administration and EPA recognize the opportunity they have to deliver meaningful policy that will reduce carbon emissions and reduce our dependence on oil,” Steckel said. “Voters clearly support biodiesel and the RFS. The policies are working. Now is the time to build on that success.”
