Idado DEQ seeks public comments on Boise property cleanup plan

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) announced on Monday that it will accept public comments on a draft work plan for contamination cleanup at a Boise property until November 19.

The site, which is located at 620 S. 9th St., has previously been used as a warehouse, for storage and a limited rail transport facility. These functions have left it contaminated with petroleum chemicals and metals. The proposed cleanup will remove the contaminated soil using targeted excavations, paving the way for mixed commercial and residential uses of the property.

The Voluntary Remediation Work Plan, which can be viewed online at the DEQ’s website, will guide the cleanup and describes how the cleanup method selected will be implemented. The plan can also be viewed in person at the DEQ’s state and regional offices in Boise, at the Boise Public Library and at the Ada County Commissioners Office.
