Coeur D'Alene awarded $20 million wastewater improvement loan
The loan is provided by the department’s State Revolving Loan Fund, which receives annual grants from the Environmental Protection Agency. It will allow the city to improve its wastewater system at an interest rate of just 2.75 percent on a loan that is payable over 20 years.
Coeur D’Alene will use the $20 million to improve primary and secondary treatment systems. It also will expand its tertiary filtration system for treating plant flows and modify the existing chemical system.
The loan will save the city more than $4.80 million compared to typical costs for municipal general obligation debt issuances.
