Texas A&M Agrilife Research Extension Center wins WaterSense award

Texas A&M’s Agrilife Research Extension Center at Dallas received the WaterSense Promotional Partner of the Year award from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at the 2015 WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition in Las Vegas Tuesday.

The Agrilife Center won the award based on its work to promote the WaterSense program and products in its region. Sixteen other organizations also won awards from the EPA, collectively saving 1.1 trillion gallons of water throughout the country and saving Americans $21.7 billion on their water and energy bills in the last nine years.

“We applaud innovative organizations who are taking a huge step to provide simple ways to save water as well as money,” EPA Regional Administrator Ron Curry said. “The efforts of all WaterSense partners have helped countless communities, organizations and individuals learn more about why it’s important to save water and how to take easy steps to be part of the solution.”

WaterSense was created by the EPA to protect the country’s water supply by promoting water-efficient products, which earn a ‘WaterSense’ label from the agency.
