Michigan seeks applications for EPA Urban Waters Small Grants Program

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) announced Friday that it is accepting proposals for projects that support the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) water quality and environmental justice goals under the Urban Waters Small Grants Program.

According to the announcement, the EPA has made approximately $1.6 million available in funding for communities across the country, especially underserved ones, allowing them to restore urban waters and revitalized their economies.

Projects within Michigan that will address urban runoff pollution are encouraged to apply, particularly those that incorporate diverse partnerships and that will benefit their local community in multiple ways.

Before submitting their projects, applicants are encouraged to ensure that their activities would fall within Eligible Geographic Areas, which are marked on an interactive map on the EPA’s Urban Waters Small Grants mapping website.
