The U.S. Army Corps of Engineering (USACE) awarded Granite Construction Incorporated a $72 million contract for building outlet structures at Houston, Texas’ Addicks and Barker Dams, according to a Monday announcement from Granite.

The company, which is one of the largest construction and construction materials firms in the country, plans to book the project into backlog in the third quarter of 2015, beginning work in the fourth quarter. This puts the targeted completion date in May 2019.

The contract includes building new intake towers, steel-lined conduits, parabolic chute slabs, stilling basins, cutoff walls and downstream filters. It will also entail grouting and decommissioning the existing facilities, as well as a seepage cutoff wall for Barker Dam.

Granite Construction is located at 38740 Sky Canyon Drive, Murrieta.
