Missouri seeking public comment on Hazel Hill Lake plans

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is seeking public comments on its draft plan for the 502-acre Hazel Hill Lake Conservation Area, including the 71-acre Hazel Hill Lake.

"Missourians care about conservation and use conservation areas for many different reasons," MDC Director Bob Ziehmer said. "These areas help people discover nature through various activities, and help make Missouri a great place to hunt, fish and enjoy other outdoor activities.”

The Conservation Area Management Plan does not address hunting and fishing in the area, which are managed by the Conservation Commission, but regulates natural resource management and public use. The public comment period for the Hazel Hill Lake Conservation Area management plan closes on Sept. 30.

“We want to know how conservation areas are important to Missourians,” Ziehmer said. “Encouraging public comments on Conservation Area Management Plans is part of MDC's ongoing efforts of working for and with Missourians to sustain healthy forests, fish and wildlife."
