Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Air, Pesticides and Toxics Management Division Director Beverly Banister is scheduled to speak at Atlanta’s Norfolk Southern Inman Yard for the unveiling America’s first Eco locomotive, according to an EPA release from Monday.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal will also preside over the historic event.

The Eco locomotives are exciting developments in clean-air technology and were created by Norfolk Southern using components from Progress Rail Services’ Electro-Motive Diesel, a locomotive builder. The new locomotives use switch engines in rail yards. They were partially funded by the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program.
