Idaho accepting feedback on former dry cleaning facility site cleanup

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is accepting public comments on a plan to clean up a former dry cleaning facility in Boise through 5 p.m. Sept. 24.

The department has made the Voluntary Remediation Work Plan available to the public, which details the proposed cleanup methods and their planned implementation for the 902 N. Eighth St. site. The site is contaminated with tetrachloroethylene and other chemicals. It will be treated through high-vacuum extraction, and treatment of the soil vapor and groundwater.

After it has been decontaminated, the site will be converted into commercial and residential uses, as per the DEQ’s proposal, which can be accessed online or at the department’s state and regional offices. The proposal is also available at the Boise Public Library, 715 S. Capitol Blvd.; and the Ada County Courthouse, Development Services Office, 200 W. Front St. (Second floor).

Comments can be submitted online or via mail.
