EPA awards Cabot, Ark., $485,000 for wastewater treatment system
The agency provides similar grants to states and municipalities across the country for projects to promote water quality and improve the drinking water infrastructure. Projects the EPA has funded in the past include those that worked on watershed protection, water and energy efficiency, drinking water plant operator training, wastewater reclamation and, like in Cabot, wastewater treatment systems.
Wastewater falls under the agency’s authority under the Clean Water Act, and the EPA helps with wastewater management through regulatory and voluntary programs. These efforts promote effective and responsible use of water and ensure that it is treated and disposed of properly.
