EPA clears Nano-C to manufacture, sell single-walled carbon nanotubes
"This makes Nano-C an approved commercial source for these advanced materials in the United States,” Nano-C President and CEO Viktor Vejins said. “EPA clearance for SWCNT manufacture and sale is a very critical step toward their commercial applications including transparent conductors for displays and touch screens, printed electronics and memory devices."
Nano-C went through the EPA’s TSCA Premanufacture Notice (PMN) clearance process for the development of environmental, health and safety measures for manufacturing fullerene and fullerene derivatives before going through the process for SWCNT manufacturing and use.
Officials at carbon nanotube-based memory device developer Nantero, Inc, said they were looking forward to working with Nano-C.
"As we are actively working with multiple customers on exciting new memory products, Nantero is extremely pleased to see Nano-C gain EPA clearance," Nantero Co-founder and CEO Greg Schmergel said. “This milestone establishes Nano-C as a world-leading supplier of high-quality SWCNT and represents a big step forward toward their use in commercial products.”
