Penford requests air quality permit modification for Idaho Falls facility

Penford Products Co. sent an air quality permit modification request to the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) concerning its Idaho Falls facility, according to a Thursday announcement.

The facility, which manufactures Penford’s specialty starch, would be given an increased process throughput allowance if the permit modification is approved. While the facility’s emissions would increase, they would still be required to stay within the legal limits.

The permit modification will be subject to a 30-day public comment period if one is requested, in an official submission to the DEQ, before July 24. The permit application from Penford can be viewed on the DEQ’s website.
