In the wake of a series of legislative moves by lawmakers from both houses of Congress, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy testified before the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology today.

Meeting in the Rayburn House Office Building, the agency’s chief was scheduled to answer questions related to the EPA’s regulatory efforts, which recently have faced challenges.

The Supreme Court ruled against the agency’s Mercury Air Toxic Standards rule on June 29, and the Waters of the United States rule now faces a suit brought by some states and industry groups. Lawmakers also have introduced and voted on several amendments to fiscal bills to block the EPA’s creation or implementation of other rules.
