EPA approves Biosenta’s True disinfectant for U.S. market

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently approved a new disinfectant from Biosenta, Inc., called True, deeming the product highly safe for human use and allowing the Canadian company to forgo a warning label.

"True is a unique disinfectant that matches the best products on the market, and it has the advantage of having a formulation that is very safe for use,” Biosenta President and CEO Dene Rogers said. "Gaining EPA approval will allow Biosenta to begin to launch sales in the U.S., a market which is almost 10 times the size of Canada."

The disinfectant is approved for use in cleaning, killing microbes such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and mold. Biosenta’s selling point for the product is its high efficiency, working as a strong disinfectant without relying on high levels of active ingredients.

True’s effectiveness was laboratory tested, and it was shown to kill E. coli, influenza and black mold within 10 minutes of contact, in addition to many other potentially harmful microbes.

Biosenta is still awaiting approval to market and sell True in Canada. Health Canada is expected to approved the product for use in late-2015.
