Abt Associates to aid EPA on drinking water project

Abt Associates said Thursday that it has a new blanket purchase agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to create water treatment cost models and regulatory analysis tools related to drinking water contaminate regulations.

Abt Associates will work with the EPA’s Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water to satisfy regulations under the Safe Water Drinking Act that dictate that the EPA has to decide which contaminates need to be regulated and what the costs of that regulation will be.

“Abt Associates is committed to supporting the U.S. EPA's Office of Drinking Water's regulatory mission,” Abt Associates Environmental and Natural Resource Division Vice President Joshua Lipton said. “Our team of engineers, programmers and economists will help the EPA generate the most accurate and transparent cost estimates of drinking water contaminants using cutting-edge regulatory analysis tools.”

Abt Associates Senior Associate Shannon Ragland will lead the project, which will include creating cost models, analyzing relevant water treatment technology and estimating costs.

Abt Associates provides a range of services, including research and evaluation, health, social and environmental policy, and international development.
