Solutex Inc., based in Sterling, Virginia, was recently named a Safer Choice Partner of the Year, a distinction for companies that have shown commitment to products certified through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Safer Choice program.
Solutext is a janitorial and building maintenance product distributor. The company has supported the Safer Choice program by only selling products that are biodegradable and made up of safer cleaning ingredients. Solutex also gives its consumers educational materials on the Safer Choice products it offers.
“EPA has developed its new Safer Choice label to make it easier for consumers and businesses to find cleaning and home care products that are safer for families, pets, communities and the environment,” EPA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Shawn M. Garvin said. “Companies like Solutex play an important role in educating the public and making these environmentally-friendly products available.”
Safer Choice products comprise ingredients that the EPA has assessed with a full chemical identification and determined that they are safe both for the environment and public health. If chemicals applying for the Safer Choice label contain ingredients not yet tested, the EPA requires studies to prove that they fit within the program’s standards.
