U.S. Rep. Evan Jenkins (R-WV) recently confronted Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy on the economic impacts of the EPA’s regulations at a House Appropriations Committee subcommittee hearing.

Jenkins particularly stressed the need for McCarthy to visit West Virginia to fully understand the economic effect of the EPA regulations related to coal and coal-fired power plants.

"Administrator, West Virginians are a proud people,” Jenkins said at the hearing. “We want to work. We want to provide a better future for our children. Let us do the work we have done for generations — work that provides good paychecks and keeps the lights on. And until you actually visit the coalfields of West Virginia, you will never understand the impact of your actions.”

When Jenkins asked McCarthy if she had visited his home state since taking her place as the head of the EPA, she responded that she could not recall.
