Michigan Natural Resources Commission schedules meetings for Jan. 14

The Michigan Natural Resources Commission has scheduled its monthly meeting for Thursday, Jan. 14 at Thompsonville’s Crystal Mountain, beginning at 8:30 a.m. for a full day of meetings covering various aspects of the commission’s work.

The Committee of the Whole will meet at 2 p.m. for a report from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Director, who will cover the latest developments from the Grand Traverse Bay Reef Restoration project, give a presentation on DNR efforts to recruit and reactivate hunters and anglers, and recognize the efforts of retiring Assistant Wildlife Division Chief Doug Reeves. The Committee of the Whole meeting will also include presentations of the Lifesaving Awards and the Shikar Safari Officer of the Year Award, as well as a legislative update and a chance for public comment.

The day will also include a meeting of the Policy Committee on Finance and Administration, a joint meeting between the Travel Commission and the DNR, and a Policy Committee meeting on Wildlife and Fisheries.
