Maine DEP seeks comments on long-term vision for impaired waters

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking public comments on its recently proposed Vision for Assessment, Restoration and Protection of Maine’s Water Resources, a document setting forth the state’s long-term vision for impaired waters.

The document, which is available online on the DEP’s website and in hard copies by request, falls under the department’s Clean Water Act, Section 303(d) program, and establishes how the DEP intends to address the state’s impaired waters over a period of years.

The DEP is accepting public comments on the draft vision document until Jan. 29, which can be submitted via mail, email or fax. Interested parties can also relay their comments in person at a meeting for that purpose on Jan. 19, which will take place at 1 p.m. at the DEP Response Training Room, 4 Blossom Lane, Augusta.
